About The Carolina Coffee Company
It all started as a dream. Take our past restaurant experience,
our love of fresh-roasted coffee and the Carolinas, and turn
it into a family business we would be proud of. The result:
The Carolina Coffee Company! The Owens family has always loved
great coffee, but could never quite find what we were looking
for. The answer - create our own specialty blends! So we rolled
up our sleeves and started on a journey to search for the
finest arabica beans in the world, while also capturing the
unique taste of the Carolinas.
During this process we certainly had our share of obstacles,
but none greater than the unexpected battle with cancer.
In the summer of 2001, Cindy Owens, late wife of Carolina
Coffee Company founder Steve Owens, was diagnosed with lymphoma.
In February of 2002, Cindy's battle with cancer was over,
but her inspiration to others lives on. It was that very
inspiration and determination that convinced us to continue
forward with the launching of the Carolina Coffee Company.
Not only have we created what we think are the finest specialty
blends of fresh-roasted coffee in the world, our family
wants to share Cindy's inspiration with others. To reinforce
this commitment, the Owens Family has created the Cynthia
S. Owens Foundation (New Hanover Regional Medical Center
/ Zimmer Cancer Center, Wilmington, N.C.). The Carolina
Coffee Company will donate a portion of all sales to this
Foundation in order to help others with special needs who
are currently fighting cancer.
The Owens Family is committed to creating the very best specialty
blends of fresh-roasted coffee for you and your family's enjoyment,
while continuing to help others along the way.
My challenge from Cindy was to "dream your dreams..and
may you sip them right into reality", and that's
exactly what we have done.
Thank you for allowing us to share our passion with you!
